3.5 StarsThis is my 3rd Kristen Ashley book (Sweet Dreams, At Peace) and I feel like she follows a very simple recipe: grunting, gorgeous, protective, alpha male falls for strong, need-to-find-real-love heroine. The relationships grow to deep, deep love via hot, steamy, sex. Throw in some danger and the hero rescuing the heroine and they live happily ever after.I LOVE THIS RECIPE! :) I also love how KA writes about mature characters and not teens/YA's who haven't LIVED.The Gamble is not my favorite of the KA books I've read to date, but I still really enjoyed it. I love Max. And he's probably the least gruff of the male leads I've read from her books. I feel, however, that there are almost too many peripheral characters and the action-packed last few chapters all got stuffed in the end which didn't jive with the pace of the rest of the book. Thanks, KA, for the epilogue from Max's point of view. That was a treat.
