The book was gritty, and brutal, and F’d up big time. Unbeautifully is a tad tamer, yet still true to what the first book started. Surprisingly to me, a good portion of the book was about Deuce and Eva, the messed-up, twisted "fairy tale" couple from book 1. And I savored every page with them on it. I was rooting for those two. I love Deuce, that asshole.The rest of the book was about Deuce’s daughter Danny and her secret love-affair with Ripper, the club’s scarred (inside and out) “enforcer”…and I gotta admit…I heart me some Ripper too. The girls…they were fine…which is pretty much all I can hope for when reading a M/F book. :)The “danger zone” that, of course, is inevitable in a book like this, resolved itself almost too quickly and there just wasn’t enough angst (I know, I know…I hate angst…but when I’m in biker-babe-mode, I need some…) to make this book live up to the 1st. Still, if you loved book 1, you will feel satisfied with the follow up. And my guess is that book 3 will be about Cage & Tegan (who I abhor...) and hopefully we'll find out what the heck happened to ZZ...
